Cloomba vs Partiful
Last reviewed: May 2026
Partiful is the party-invite app of choice for a lot of US 20- and 30-somethings — clean, fun, SMS-first. Cloomba covers the same casual-party use case, but is built for a wider set of organisers (meetups, conferences, clubs) and a European audience.
What both do well
- Free to use for free events
- Clean event pages with cover, RSVP, comments
- Passwordless sign-in
- Mobile-friendly web
When Cloomba is the better fit
Your party is in Europe. Cloomba's servers run in Amsterdam (EU-West). Partiful is US-hosted and SMS-first, which is a US-cultural default — outside North America the friction shows up immediately (international SMS reliability, US-centric phone-number prompts).
You want to charge for tickets. Partiful is free-events-only; there is no paid-ticket flow. Cloomba supports paid tickets via Stripe Connect (with full EU SEPA + VAT support) and an off-platform payment mode for bank transfer / PayPal / cash.
You run a recurring series, not one-off parties. Cloomba calendars are a persistent channel followers subscribe to; every new event you add reaches the calendar's audience automatically. Partiful is built around individual parties; there's no equivalent of a followable channel.
You want real moderation controls. Cloomba has manual guest approval, waitlists, registration questions, admin and moderator roles, check-in, and full attendee export. Partiful is deliberately lightweight.
You want sign-in that isn't SMS-only. Cloomba's sign-in page offers magic link, Google, Apple, GitHub, or phone. Pick whichever your audience is comfortable with.
You want GDPR by design. Cloomba's privacy posture and data residency match EU expectations out of the box — see How we protect your data.
When Partiful is the better fit
- You're throwing a casual US party for friends. Partiful's vibe, animations, and SMS-native invites are still the best in class for that use case.
- You only want one-off parties. No need for calendars, no need for paid tickets — Partiful's intentional minimalism is a feature.
- Your guests are all in the US and respond to SMS reflexively.

Partiful is brilliant at one thing: throwing a casual US party. Cloomba is built for a broader range of organisers — recurring community events, paid conferences, EU-based hosts — without sacrificing the polish you'd expect for casual events.
