Transferring event ownership

Transferring event ownership

You can hand over an event to another Cloomba user. This is useful when:

  • You're stepping back from a series and a co-host is taking over.
  • The event moves to a different organisation.
  • You created the event under the wrong account and want to move it.

How to start a transfer

  1. Open the event you want to transfer.
  2. Go to EditTransfer ownership.
  3. Enter the username of the new owner.
  4. Send the request.

The recipient sees a notification and gets an email with a review link. They have 7 days to accept; otherwise the request expires.

What happens when accepted

  • The new owner becomes the organiser.
  • You stay attached as an admin — you keep edit access but ownership has moved.
  • All RSVPs, tickets, media, and comments stay where they are. Nothing is lost or duplicated.
  • The event slug and URL don't change.

What happens when declined or cancelled

  • Declined by the recipient — the request closes; you remain the organiser.
  • Cancelled by you — the recipient's pending notification is cleared.
  • Expired after 7 days — closed automatically.

Restrictions

You can't transfer an event that is upcoming and has paid tickets. Sales are routing to your Stripe account; switching ownership mid-flight would break payouts. Either wait until the event has passed, or switch the event to free first.

You also can't transfer to someone who has blocked you, or whom you have blocked.

Co-organisers vs transfer

If you just want to share management, add a co-host instead — that grants edit access without changing ownership. See Adding co-hosts and managers.
