Community admins and ownership
A community has one or more owners and any number of admins. Owners run the community together; admins help run it.
What admins can do
Admins have the owner's trust. They can:
- Edit the community and add events to it
- Review submissions from other organizers
- See the People tab and write newsletters
- Invite the community's people to its events — see Inviting guests
- See the community's payment accounts and choose one of them for an event
Only owners can add and remove people, change their roles, manage the community's payment accounts, API keys and webhooks, and delete the community. Newsletters an admin sends count towards the community's email sending limits, and membership payments go to the community's default payment account.
Adding someone
On the community's Settings tab, under Admins, select Add, enter the person's Cloomba username, and pick their Role: Admin or Owner. They are notified right away. The person needs a Cloomba account.
Owners
Owners are equal. Each owner can add and remove people, owners included, and change anyone's role: pick Owner or Admin in their row under Admins. You step down from owner to admin the same way, in your own row. The person whose role changes is notified.
A community always keeps at least one owner: the last owner cannot step down, be removed, or leave.
Admins and the community's events
When an event is put in a community as its home, the community's owners and admins become admins of that event too: they can edit it and manage its guests, and their names appear under Hosted by. See Adding co-hosts and managers for what an event admin can do.
This access comes with the community and ends with it — when the person stops being an admin of the community, when the event moves out of the community, or when the community is deleted. Access someone was given by hand on the event itself stays.
Someone who becomes an admin later does not get access to events that were already in the community. An event's organizer can also remove any of them from that one event.
Removing someone
An owner removes an admin or another owner from the Admins list. If the person organizes upcoming events in the community, the dialog offers Take their upcoming events out of this community. Leave it unticked and those events stay in the community; tick it and they leave. Past events always stay.
Either way, the person loses access to the community and to its other events, and is notified. Guests of events taken out of the community stop counting on the People tab.
Leaving a community
An admin, or an owner while another owner stays, can leave from the Danger zone at the bottom of the Settings tab: select Leave community. If you organize upcoming events in the community, you can tick Move my upcoming events to Personal; otherwise they stay. The owners are notified.
Handing a community to someone else
Make them an owner — add them with the Owner role, or pick Owner in their row if they are already an admin. Then step down to admin in your own row, or leave the community.
The community's address, events, followers, members, and payment accounts stay as they are. Every event keeps its organizer. To hand over an event, see Transferring event ownership.
Deleting a community
An owner deletes the community from the Danger zone with Delete, once they are its only owner — the other owners leave or are removed first. Its events are kept: an event whose home it was moves to its organizer's personal calendar, and an event that was only listed in it stops being listed. The admins lose the access to those events that came with the community.
A community cannot be deleted while any of its membership tiers has a price, or while an upcoming event in it has members-only tickets.
