Cancelling an event

Updated 28 Jun 2026

Before you cancel

If circumstances have changed but the event might still happen, consider updating the date or location instead. Use an event update to keep registered guests informed. Cancellation is permanent — the event cannot be un-cancelled.

How to cancel

  1. Open your event.
  2. Go to the event settings or management menu.
  3. Select Cancel event and confirm.

The event is marked as cancelled immediately. It is removed from discovery listings but the event page remains accessible so guests can see the cancellation notice.

Notifying guests

When you cancel, it is your responsibility to let registered guests know. Send an event update explaining what happened and what to expect — especially if refunds are involved. Guests who registered will still receive updates you post after cancellation.

Refunds for paid events

If your event had paid tickets, you must refund all attendees. Cloomba does not issue refunds automatically on cancellation — you need to process them manually through your Stripe dashboard or from the guest list in Cloomba.

Cloomba refunds its 5% platform fee too, so refunding an attendee costs you nothing on our side. Stripe's processing fee may or may not be returned depending on your Stripe settings.

Deleting vs cancelling

Cancelling marks the event as cancelled and keeps the page visible. Deleting removes the event entirely. For events where people have already registered — especially paid events — cancelling is the right choice so guests have a record of what happened.
