Direct messages on Cloomba
Cloomba has built-in 1:1 messaging — chat with organisers, co-hosts, or anyone else you've connected with, without leaving Cloomba.
Where to find it
- Web: the Messages icon in the top navigation.
- iOS and Android: the Messages tab at the bottom of the app.
To start a new conversation, open someone's profile and tap Connect. See Connecting with people for all the ways to reach someone.
What you can send
- Text — a single line or several paragraphs. You can edit or delete anything you've sent.
- Photos and video — one per message, with an optional caption. Use the media button next to the input.
Messages are delivered in real time to whichever device the other person is using.
Message requests
The first message you send to someone you don't already chat with arrives as a request. The other person can accept or decline it:
- Accepted — your conversation opens, and messages flow normally from then on.
- Declined — you aren't notified, and nothing further you send gets through.
Until the request is accepted, that one message is all you can send. This keeps unsolicited messages out of everyone's inbox — there's more on why in Connecting with people.
Read receipts
A Seen label appears under the newest of your messages once the other person has actually viewed it on screen — not just opened the thread.
Editing and deleting
Long-press (mobile) or hover (web) any message you sent to edit or delete it. Edited messages are marked as such. Deleted messages disappear for both sides.
Blocking
If someone is bothering you, block them from their profile. A blocked person can no longer message you or see your activity.
