Taxes and VAT for EU organisers

Atualizado a 10 Jun 2026

Cloomba collects ticket payments on your behalf through Stripe, but tax compliance is your responsibility as the organiser. This page gives an overview — consult a tax adviser for guidance specific to your situation.

Is VAT due on event tickets?

In most EU countries, tickets to live events are subject to VAT. The applicable rate and rules depend on:

  • The country where the event takes place
  • The type of event (cultural, educational, entertainment, sporting)
  • Whether you are VAT-registered

If you are VAT-registered, you are generally required to include VAT in the ticket price and remit it to the tax authority.

Setting your price

Cloomba displays the price you set — it does not add or subtract VAT automatically. If your tickets are subject to VAT, set a price that already includes it (the gross price). Make clear in your event description whether the stated price is inclusive or exclusive of VAT.

Stripe and tax reporting

Stripe provides transaction records and payout summaries in your dashboard. These records can be used for accounting and VAT reporting purposes. Stripe does not file VAT returns on your behalf.

Tax rules vary significantly across EU member states and change over time. If you are selling tickets regularly or at significant volume, we strongly recommend consulting a local tax adviser or accountant.
